That’s when the British people last had a say on our relationship with Europe.

A lot’s changed since then – not least the European Union. Many people now feel it’s not working in Britain’s best interests.

That’s why Bob Neill, Conservative MP for Bromley and Chislehurst, was delighted to re-introduce the EU Referendum Bill to the House of Commons yesterday.

This is the bill that will enshrine in law the Conservative Party’s commitment that – once we have finished renegotiating British’s relationship with the EU – you will get the final say with an in-out referendum in 2017.

Labour and the Lib Dems don’t want you to have a say on Europe – which is why they blocked the bill in the House of Lords earlier this year.

They can’t do that this time, thanks to the Parliament Act. But we’ll still face stiff opposition from them in the Commons, so if the bill is going to become law, we’re going to need your help.
